| |||
The CJ3 Racing Group Cedar Falls, Wisconsin editor@BroncosPitstop.com www.BroncosPitstop.com DRIVER: Nick Frion HOMETOWN: Ellsworth, WI CLASS: WISSOTA Midwest Modified CAR NUMBER: 34 FAMILY OR MARITAL STATUS: Married, wife Amy, and son Dawson, age 3 CREW: Jerry Frion, (Dad), Pat Frion, (Mom), Jordan Hintzman, Jason Johnson, and Cory Freiberg SPONSORS: 63 Express, Brosi Signs of Plum City, God Father’s Pizza, MAS Performance, Frion Designs, SSR Race Cars and Parts, Ace Electric. HOBBIES: “Just Racing…well, hunting too.” FAVORITE FOOD: “Tacos!” FAVORITE DRIVER: “Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. TEAMMATE: “Lonnie Seiple in the 3-1.” HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN RACING? “My brother Jake raced Street Stocks (1997-2000), and I was on the pit crew for him. My dad raced at Eau Claire, a long, long time ago. (1973, Street Stocks) I actually got behind the wheel for the first time in my brother’s Street Stock in 1998 and ran that for a few years at Arcadia. The 2005 season was my first year in the Midwest Mods.” MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN RACING: “Driver Wade DeLong (Elk Mound, WI), was driving a Street Stock owned by my dad. At the time, I really wasn’t a big race fan, but on that particular night, to see wade get the Feature win here at Red Cedar, that was so great! Our car in the winner’s circle! It was Wade’s first feature win, and that was the turning point for me. From that point on, racing mattered. I was about 13 years old then. That is a great memory for me.” WHAT IS IT ABOUT RACING THAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK WEEK AFTER WEEK? “Just the fun of it. I like racing next to great drivers in this class. Guys like Jim Bourn, Kevin Adams, Mark Thomas…I feel more comfortable racing door-to-door with those guys than driving on the interstate with drivers I don’t know.” I asked Nick if there was anything else he wanted to say at the conclusion of our interview, and he noted, “This year I am dedicating the race season to two friends of mine that died last year, Amy Green and Dan Mears. I carry their names on my car.” | |||
