Cole in the cockpit of his #21 Tri-Star Engine SpecialOn Saturday, August 13th, I took my son's Carson and Cooper to see their friend, Cole Cropp, age 11 of Menomonie, race his winged cart at Thunder Hill Speedway.  First off, let me tell you, this is like the "Field of Dreams" for racers.  Driving through the rolling hills of Dunn County's finest farm land, you drive over a ridge, and there in the middle of the corn fields, is the prettiest little 1/8th mile dirt track you have ever seen!

Cole and Charlie CroppCole and his dad, Charlie, where in the pit area when I got there.  I went to talk to them quickly, as they where prepping the kart prior to heat races.  I asked Cole what his favorite thing about doing this was, and he replied with a grin, "I guess driving, and then just hanging out with my friends that also race."  Talking to his dad, Charlie, he commented, "This is good family time for Cole and I, we get to spend time together, doing something we both enjoy."

Cole dives into turn 1Cole races in the Junior Wings, 125cc Class.  I am not sure of the top speeds, but as the sticker on the front of Cole's machine states, "Turn Right to Go Left"!  In other words, they really can hang 'em out!
