John Kaanta tops Punky Manor Challenge of Champions
September 26th 2008 - Shane Halopka came from the 17th starting spot as he shocked the rest of the Midwest modified field and energized the huge crowd on hand to highlight the opening night of the 29th annual Punky Manor Challenge of Champions at the Red Cedar Speedway Friday.

In the late model portion John Kaanta swept past Harry Hanson just past the halfway point and then drove on unchallenged to win Saturday night at the Red Cedar Speedway. Kaanta, who has spent much of the summer competing in open motor events across the Midwest, put together his most impressive WISSOTA performance of the year at his home track, located just down the road from his Elk Mound residence. The other two winners at this year's Punky continued their year-long dominance at this Dunn County oval as point champions Craig Thatcher and Shawn Huse won the modified and super stock feature events, respectively, after being the drivers to beat here all year.
