The third year for the Midwest Modified as a WISSOTA Class at Red Cedar Speedway, has shown so far to be a real “crowd pleaser”. I think that is a title that Mark Thomas is used to, having taken over the head coaching duties for the UW-Stout Women’s Basketball team in 1986, his program is now a WIAC Power.
Winning WIAC Titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007, (3-Peat!)
I asked Mark, who started racing in Street Stocks, what he thought of this "new" racing class? “They are a different kind of ride compared to the Streeter’s I was used to. They turn differently; you really need to get through the turn by being on the gas more. I think it is fun to drive, but I am still feeling the car out.”
Mark missed the first two weeks of racing action of the 2006 season, “The car just wasn’t ready.”
The first race he did participate in his new machine, a beautiful black and orange car, he had no opportunity for hot laps because of wet track conditions, so the first heat race he was in this year, was the first time he had been out with the car!

In 2006, Mark switched to a White and Black color scheme. "I don't know if I ever got used to the white car. I have always had a black racer, with an orange 25."
EDITORS NOTE: I like the white, shows up better under the lights!-BRONCO
Mark has plenty of help in the garage, or in the pits. Often helped by Crew, Brother-In-Law Gary Borgerding and friend Mike Champion, and the rest of the Thomas kin, Cousin’s Danny and Steve, Uncle Larry, his dad, Bob Thomas (the other Coach T), Craig Thatcher, and sometimes Tommy Thatcher. It is truly a family get together on race nights, Thomas Family Time.
